Located in northeast Indiana is the small, quiet town of Rome City. Beautiful Sylvan Lake is one of our main attractions. Sylvan is ideal for those looking to enjoy a day of fishing or just a scenic ride on your boat around the lake. There are many beautiful homes surrounding the lake and more being built as we continue to grow. Also located on our shores is the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site, also known as Limberlost North. This is the second home of the renowned author. It is the sister-site to Limberlost, which is located in Geneva, Indiana.
While in town, visitors can enjoy our public library, the ice cream, sub and pizza shops, grocery store, and convienence stores. Our entreprenuers provide services including a laundromat, insurance agency, hair salons and alteration shop. Rome City also has several parks to visit.
Annual Events Occurring in Rome City Include:
- A Holiday House Walk where local residents open their homes so visitors may enjoy their beautiful settings and holiday decorations
- An annual Fun on Sylvan Fourth of July Celebration with food, games, car show, music and outstanding fireworks at dusk
- Chili Cook-off and Awards night at Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site in October
See the Community events area on this page for more event information.
