FORT WAYNE — A former NFL player from Fort Wayne helped to pull various area organizations together to provide 225 pre-cooked boneless turkey breasts to Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana.
Fort Wayne native Jason Fabini, who played 10 years in the NFL, started the Fabini Foundation as a nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to benefit the youth of Fort Wayne and surrounding areas.
Ohio-based Cooper Farms agreed to donate the 225 pre-cooked boneless turkey breasts and also pick up the cost of their delivery to Community Harvest Food Bank. Families at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School helped coordinate a special contribution by their students to Community Harvest Food Bank supplying all the side dishes of a traditional Thanksgiving meal to accompany the turkey roasts. The students collected what was needed and more. Then Fabini asked Community Harvest to help coordinate delivery and identify the appropriate distribution site. CHFB member agency, Miss Virginia’s Mission House was selected and manager Tom Osborn agreed to help.
“It was a team effort. Both Cooper Farms and St. Charles helped make this happen,” Fabini said in a news release. “It feels great to be able to give back to the community.”
