The American Heart Association has named Pat Sullivan, Executive Vice President of Hylant Group and his wife, Amanda, Territory Business Manager for Bristol Myers Squibb, as co-chairs for the 2010 Fort Wayne Heart Ball.

The Fort Wayne Heart Ball will be held on January 23, 2010, at the Grand Wayne Center, Fort Wayne.  The black tie event is expected to raise over $150,000 and will feature a live auction, dinner and live entertainment.

The event provides an opportunity for community members to support a special campaign, the Learn and Live Special Appeal, which addresses the critical issue of children's heart health. Heart-related birth defects, alarming increase in childhood obesity, and teaching kids about the dangers of smoking are just a few of the issues this initiative supports.

"I almost lost my father to heart disease,” said Pat Sullivan. “I can’t imagine what it must be like for parents experiencing their newborn having to go through surgery.  The fact that children are now at greater risk for heart disease makes it even more important to my wife and me that we do what we can to reduce heart disease in our community.”

The Fort Wayne Heart Ball is a major fund-raising event benefiting research, public education and community programs of the American Heart Association and its mission-related activities in Allen County.

"We are so pleased to be able to support this great event," said Amanda Sullivan.  “We hope that our involvement will help to generate the critical funding needed to carry out the American Heart Association's important mission of savings lives through education and research."

More than 300 guests are expected to attend the Fort Wayne Heart Ball.  Tickets are $200. Corporate tables and sponsorship opportunities are also available.  For more information, call Mary Pat Leonard at (260) 485-9890 or visit www.heart.org/fortwayneheartball.
