Easter Seals Arc unveils new Christmas scene PDF Print E-mail

The tradition continues and so do the designs of local artist Julia Meek, and her downtown Fort Wayne landmarks during the winter season.  Easter Seals Arc’s 24th annual Portraits of Pride showcases a magical array of sights and holiday traditions distinctly “Fort Wayne.”

This year’s “Portrait of Pride” is particularly celebratory, as it commemorates Fort Wayne’s proud history and community spirit along with Easter Seal Arc’s 55th anniversary.  The scene, titled “Past Memories Build Future Dreams,” has been printed on holiday cards and sweatshirts and is being sold by Easter Seals Arc.  Proceeds benefit Easter Seals Arc programs.

For Easter Seals Arc’s 55th anniversary occasion, we whimsically reflect on past holiday dreams, remembered and preserved in the historic Wolf & Dessauer light displays, still warming the cold winter nights of the 21st century. The old department store stands in all of its past glory, now proudly bedecked with our own anniversary banner. Santa and his sleigh are “unleashed” for the night, to fly above our fair city in the glow of their newly-fitted light bulbs, leaving behind their old ones, which are now being offered by Easter Seals Arc as a lasting, personal keepsake.

For the last two decades Easter Seals Arc of Northeast Indiana has put Meek’s reflective downtown Christmas scenes on cards, prints, and sweatshirts that were sold locally as a fundraiser for the organization.

“For more than 20 years I have proudly rendered an exclusive Fort Wayne street scene for Easter Seals Arc.  Not only is it a successful fundraising and awareness campaign, but most importantly, a perfect opportunity for Arc to give back something special to the community that loves to support their wonderful organization,” said Meek.  “There’s a huge soft spot in my heart for Easter Seals Arc clients and employees – they are my local heroes.”

Cards, prints, and shirts are available for a limited time only.  Items can be purchased by calling 260.456.4534 ext 264, and are available at Anne’s Hallmark stores, Riegel’s Pipe & Tobacco at Georgetown, Creative Framing on North Anthony, Umber’s Do It Best in Waynedale, and Easter Seals Arc at 4919 Coldwater Road.  Order forms are also available online at www.eastersealsarcnein.org.
