FORT WAYNE — Democratic third district congressional candidate Tom Hayhurst announced Monday that he had raised more than $93,000 in his first six weeks of the campaign.
Hayhurst, who ran against Rep. Mark Souder, R-Fort Wayne, in 2006, mostly raised the funds from individual contributions, his campaign said.
“I appreciate the generous support that I have received over the last few weeks,” Hayhurst said in a press release. “I’m running for Congress because so many folks in the third district have expressed their concerns about the quality of representation we have in Washington. At this early stage of the campaign, I’m listening to the citizens of northeast Indiana and building the foundation for a strong campaign.”
Hayhurst is a former Fort Wayne City Council member and is a critical-care physician.
