FORT WAYNE — Joseph Landry said he thinks it is perfectly fine that he protested on the corner of Main and Clinton streets in a mask of President Barack Obama covered in fake blood.
Despite it being Good Friday, Landry said his message was similar.
"Today we honor Christ whose innocent blood was shed by Pilate. The apostles abandoned Jesus. We will not abandon the innocent children," Landry said.
Landry and a group about 10 were at the Allen County Courthouse Friday at different times protesting President Barack Obama.
Landry said he is a Catholic pro-life missionary who works for Randall Terry. Terry started the Web site stopobamanotredame.com in hopes that President Obama doesn't speek at the University of Notre Dame's commencent ceremony in May or that the university will revoke the invitation. The group also wants Notre Dame President Rev. John I. Jenkins fired or have him resign.
"We have to honor and protect innocent blood. This isn’t a fight against personal opinion and policy it’s a fight about life," Landry said. "It’s a treachery against the Catholic Church — to set aside murder for academic dialogue doesn’t make sense"
Similar protests were set for Washington, D.C., Modesto, Calif.; Los Angeles; and Dallas.
