LAKE WORTH, Fla. — Alice Jean Miller, 69, of Lake Worth, Fla., and formerly of Butler died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Lake Worth under the care of hospice.
She had been employed with the Lake Worth Herald for many years before her retirement.
She was a life member of the Lake Worth Order of the Eagles Aerie No. 3694, where she had served as past Madame President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the American Legion Post 47 and Moose Lodge No. 994, and a life member of the VFW Post No. 4360, all of Lake Worth.
She was born Nov. 8, 1939, in Stryker, Ohio, to Roscoe and Virginia (DeGroff) Pursel.
Surviving are two sons, Kevin Welker and Kirby Welker, both of Butler; two stepsons, Joe Miller of Auburn and John Miller of Grabill; four grandchildren, Heather Welker, Jason Welker, Kylie Welker and Taylor Welker; two brothers, Don Pursel and Edward Pursel, both of Bryan, Ohio; three sisters, Janet Hammon of West Unity, Ohio, Janie Schmucker of Bryan, Ohio, and Pam Stark of Ney, Ohio; and her companion, Tony Fritz and his family of Lake Worth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Miller; a son, Kurtis Welker; a stepson, Robert Miller Jr.; and a sister, Sandy Werder.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Feller Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with the Rev. Al Black officiating. Burial will be in Evansport Cemetery, Evansport, Ohio.
Calling will be from 4 -7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
